Workstation Display Screen Assessments (DSE) came in to play as a result of an increasing number of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) amongst display screen equipment users.

A poor workstation set-up, can adversely affect the user's posture and movement, which over a period of time, can result in painful symptoms. The link below gives further detail on the laws.

What Happens at a  DSE Assessment

A thorough analysis is carried out on each workstation that a person uses. Adjustments may be made to the workstation to enable the user to adopt a better ‘working’ posture.

Suggestions may be made about extra equipment that the user may find beneficial, although often improvements can be made without any extra equipment.

Users will gain a better understanding of how their posture during the working day affects them over a period of time. This can help to reduce the risk of repetitive strain injuries to shoulders, hands and back.

Time and Cost

Each assessment will take approximately 30 mins and cost £30 per employee. You will be provided with advice on what to look for and how to carry out a basic assessment along with forms which can be used for future changes to the workstation and new employees.
